Government Accountability
My Position
I believe government works best when it is fiscally responsible, transparent, and accessible to the people it serves. As State Representative, I have focused on responsible budgeting, strengthening government accountability, and ensuring that elected officials remain accountable to taxpayers.
What I’ve Accomplished
I have voted for and helped pass consecutive balanced state budgets, helping put Illinois on a stronger financial footing. This progress helped eliminate the state’s bill backlog and contributed to multiple credit rating upgrades for Illinois.
I also helped secure the transfer of $2.7 billion from the Pension Stabilization Fund to the Office of the State Comptroller, taking meaningful steps toward addressing the state’s long-term unfunded pension liabilities.
Accountability also means ensuring that elected officials are held to the same standards we expect from everyone else. I sponsored HB 2389, which prohibits former state legislators from immediately transitioning into corporate lobbying roles after leaving office by establishing a five-year waiting period. The legislation is designed to help prevent conflicts of interest and limit the potential for self-serving relationships between lawmakers and lobbyists.
I also sponsored HB 178 and HB 3104, legislation aimed at eliminating automatic pay raises and exit bonuses for elected officials, helping ensure that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and that politicians remain financially accountable to the people they serve.
Future Plans
I will continue focusing on identifying efficiencies in our state government, protecting local taxpayer dollars, and ensuring Illinois communities have the resources they need in the face of federal budget cuts.
